STUDENT SENSITIZED ON SAFE SCHOOL VAHAN POLICY

Parents, drivers apprised of  Safe School Vahan Policy

As per the instructions received from the office of the State Commission Child Rights- Chandigarh, Sacred Heart Convent Senior Secondary School, Sahnewal, convened a meeting of all parents who have hired private vehicles for the transportation of their wards and all the private vehicle owners, drivers and conductors with the school management and police officials today on the school campus. The seminar was organized keeping in view the safe transportation of school children.

The meeting was chaired by Mr. Jasvir Singh Head Constable, Incharge Traffic Education Cell, Constable Mr. Gurpreet Singh, ASI traffic Police Mr.Gurmeet Singh and Ms.Himanshi Arora, Safety riding Co-ordinator. The School Director Rev. Fr. William Sahota and the School Principal Rev. Sr. Crispin Maria welcomed all the guests.

Mr. Jasvir Singh instructed the parents and drivers regarding Safe School Vahan Policy of the Government, directed by Punjab and Haryana Court. He emphasized in his address that parents before approaching the driver for their children’s school vans, should take care of certain points such as the driver should have gone through general health check-up, eye check-up, psychological check-up, he should have proper license and police verification certificate, training in first-aid, fire safety and road safety.

Speaking on the occasion, Himanshi Arora, shed light upon the increasing number of road accidents due to carelessness and harsh driving of vehicles. During the session, the drivers were also apprised of the policy as it plays a pivotal role in making the transportation convenient and safe. She also advised the vehicle owners to maintain their vehicles as per the norms of the Safe School Vahan Policy.

On behalf of school management Rev.Fr. William Sahota also motivated parents to be more concerned and cautious so far as the safe school vahan policy is concerned. The safety of children is the prime most concern of the institution and to ensure this safety on roads, the school has already formed a committee that has been monitoring the school buses plying on different routes. He assured the parents that the school will grant permission to only those vehicles which comply with the safe school Vahan Policy. Mrs. Navdeep Kaur the coordinator of Transport committee of the school proposed the vote of thanks and the Session ended up with a note of promise from the parent’s audience to follow the govt. rules.
