The Stephen Science Club of Sacred Heart Convent Sr.Sec. School, Sahnewal organized an inspiring orientation Session on ‘Space Science and Astronomy’.
“Do not look at the stars as bright spots only. Try to take the vastness of the universe.” It is with this firm belief that the Stephen Science club of Sacred Heart Convent Sr.Sec. School, Sahnewal organised an inspiring orientation Programme –‘Space Science and Astronomy’ for the students of grade V to XII. Mr. Aman Mittal a mechanical engineer by practice and an amateur astronomer from Space Organisation, Delhi was the resource person for the day. He was cordially welcomed by the Principal Rev.Sr.Crispin on the occasion. It was an interacting, exciting and fun filled session for the students wherein they performed various hands on activities. The resource person motivated the students to fulfill their unrelenting inquisitiveness towards space and astronomy. He made the students familiar with the knowledgeable facts pertaining to astronautical terminology. He also demonstrated a live example of how a satellite is launched into the space from a space station. The sacred heartians were not only able to understand the concept but were also able to look and see at how the satellite finally reaches its designated geosynchronous orbital slot. The school director Rev.Fr. William Sahota lauded the efforts of the resource person and motivated the students to develop a good academic career and interest in space and astronomy to pursue their careers as upcoming astronomers and astronauts.
The session concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. Nidhi Kapila the Activity Coordinator.
