“Sacred Heart Convent Sr. Sec. School, Sahnewal salutes the nation on the occasion of its 70th Republic Day on 26th of January 2019.
Sacred Heart Convent Senior Secondary School, Sahnewal celebrated Republic Day with patriotic fervor and gaiety in the school. The freezing morning of 26th January simply failed to dampen the festive mood with which the staff and students of the school gathered to celebrate the 70th Republic Day. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Rev. Fr. William Sahota, the director of the School. The celebrations commenced with the customary unfurling of the national flag followed by the National Anthem.
The school echoed with patriotic fervour as the school premises was adorned in the hues of the tri-colour ribbons and balloons. The whole school campus was caught up in patriotic fervor. A colourful cultural programme presented by the school students added a festive spirit to the occasion. The vibrant show commenced with melodious patriotic group song ‘Sare Jahan Se aacha’. The tiny tots of Kindergarten came dressed as Bhagat Singh, Subhas Chandra Bose, Mahatma Gandhi, Bharat Mata, Jawahar Lal Nehru and Rani Laxmibai and they were given special tricolor badges. They sang patriotic song and delivered small speeches.
Patriotic songs, poems and speeches narrated by students filled the atmosphere with fervour and concern for their country. Students pledged their allegiance to the flag and promised to carry their nation to greater heights and achieve success in various walks of life.
Marking the anniversary of the day the country’s Constitution was adopted in 1950, the Principal Sr.Crispin Maria delivered an enlightening message infused with patriotic fervor. In her address motivated the students to be the harbingers of a social change to build a new, better and strong India. Sweets were distributed to all the students after the celebration.
