Sacred Heart Convent Sr.Sec. School, Sahnewal celebrated the nation’s 73rd Independence Day and remembered with gratitude the sacrifices of the freedom fighters. The whole school was beautified in tri-colour with vibrant rangolies and beautifully decked up young freedom fighters. The national flag was hoisted by Shri. Sadhu Singh ASI along with Shri. Bopinder Kumar ASI ( Assistant Police Inspector, Sahnewal ). All in unison saluted the National Flag in tune with National Anthem.
Students presented a culture program like Patriotic speeches, songs and choreography on the eve of the celebration. Tiny Tots of the K.G wing came dressed as freedom fighters and national leaders of India to spread the message of love and peace. They raised slogans of ‘Vande Matram’ and ‘Mera Bharat Mahaan. The school Corridors were decorated with various artifacts to instill the sense of patriotism in children. The entire campus was filled with the feeling of pure patriotism. ‘The spirit of freedom and nationalism was well exhibited through a skit which threw light on national integration of the nation.
Dr. Kirti Dua Senior Scientist & Incharge, Centre for Wild life Studies GADVASU- Ludhiana was the Chief Guest on the occasion. In his address he exhorted the students to follow the ideals of the great leaders and to become better citizens by inculcating values in their young age. The school choir roused patriotic fervour with a rendition of patriotic songs.
Inspiring speeches were given by Rev. Fr. William Sahota and Sr. Crispin Maria D. M , director and principal respectively. Prizes were distributed to the winners of CISCE Arts & Sports in the Zonal & Regional level competitions held in July . The program culminated with a word of gratitude. Sweets were distributed to the students after the celebration.
